Overview

Want to add a new subscriber to a Tatango list from another software service like:

  • MailChimp

  • Salesforce

  • Facebook Ads

  • Shopify

  • HubSpot

  • Or 3,000+ other services

You can use Zapier — no coding required.

How It Works

When creating a Zap:

1️⃣ Choose a Trigger App

This is the system where your lead or contact originates.

Examples:

  • New Subscriber (MailChimp)

  • New Lead (Facebook Ads)

  • New Customer (Shopify)

  • New Contact (Salesforce)

This Trigger tells Zapier when to create a subscriber in Tatango.

2️⃣ Choose the Action App: Tatango

Select:

Action Event → Create Subscriber

You will need your Tatango API Key to connect your account.

Supported Fields in Zapier

The Tatango Zapier connector supports the following fields:

⚠️ Important: Custom fields are NOT supported via Zapier at this time. Tags ARE supported and can be configured directly inside the Zap.

Field Name

Required?

Description

Campaign Name (List ID)

✅ Yes

The Tatango List you want to add the subscriber to. Campaign ID = List ID.

Phone Number

✅ Yes

Mobile number of the subscriber. Must be formatted correctly (recommended: E.164 format, e.g., +15551234567).

First Name

Optional

Subscriber’s first name.

Last Name

Optional

Subscriber’s last name.

Zip Code

Optional

Subscriber’s postal code.

Date of Birth

Optional

Subscriber’s DOB.

Gender

Optional

Subscriber’s gender value.

Tags

Optional

Comma-separated tags to assign to the subscriber.

Email

Optional

Subscriber’s email address.

Bypass Opt-In Process

Recommended

Controls single vs double opt-in behavior.

Bypass Invalid Phone Validation

✅ Required

Controls whether invalid/landline numbers throw errors.

Important Configuration Settings

These two settings are especially important:

✅ Bypass Opt-In Process

  • Set to TRUE → Subscriber is added as Single Opt-In (no confirmation text)

  • Set to FALSE → Subscriber receives a “Reply YES to confirm…” message (Double Opt-In)

If you want this Zap to behave as single opt-in, set this field to true

✅ Bypass Invalid Phone Validation (Required)

Set this to: true

This prevents Zap errors when:

  • A phone number is a landline

  • A number is invalid

  • A number fails carrier lookup

If this is set to False, you may need manual error handling in Zapier.

Summary

Your Zap should look like this:

Trigger App → (New Lead / New Contact / etc.)

Action App → Tatango

Action Event → Create Subscriber

Required Fields:

  • Campaign Name (List ID)

  • Phone Number

  • Bypass Invalid Phone Validation = TRUE

Optional but Recommended:

  • Bypass Opt-In Process = TRUE (if using single opt-in)

  • Tags (if you want segmentation)
