Link Tracking enables you to monitor how subscribers interact with the links within your messages, providing valuable insights into user engagement. Here’s how to set it up:

  1. Create a Trackable Link

    1. Hover and Click: Move your cursor over the 'Shorten URL' icon and click 'Shorten URL'.

  2. Enable Click Tracking

    1. Opt for Subscriber Tracking: Check the option "Track clicks by subscriber for this link". Leaving this unchecked will result in using standard bit.ly powered links.

  3. Generate the Link

    1. Select Destination: Paste the URL you want to shorten into the input box.

    1. Shorten: Click the "Shrink" button.

    2. Confirmation: A new "[TRACKING_LINK_01]" will appear, indicating your link is ready to use.

When the message sends to a user, it will use this domain: txting.io. Here's what it looks like in a delivered message.

So there are a few things to note here:

  • Domain - At the moment, the default domain is txting.io. We are now supporting custom sub-domains, as well.

  • Length - You might notice that the slug (that's everything after the slash) is a little bit longer than a typical shortened URL. It's true and that's because we're tracking a) the URL to send the clicker to and b) who is the clicker. This is what allows us to track the individual clicks.

  • Targeting - As of right now, you can segment based on link behavior:

    • Segment users based on their most recent engagement with the link - Create a message and segment it send only to "Subscribers who last engaged by clicking within the past 30 days" or "Subscribers who have not last clicked in the past 7 days".

    • Segment users from specific clicks - This will enable targeting those users that did or did not click a specific link. For example, let's say you send out a message at 10AM with a very specific offer and you want to follow that up with a 5PM message to anyone that clicked the first message. Link Tracking will allow you to do exactly this.

  • Reporting - Users can report on the link tracking.

  • API - No tracking link data is currently available via the API.
