What is Archiving?
Archiving lets you remove a conversation from your active inbox view while preserving the full conversation history. It's the best way to keep your inbox focused on active, ongoing conversations without losing context from completed or low-priority ones.
Key things to know:
Archived conversations are not deleted. They're always retrievable via the Archived filter
Archived conversations are read-only. You cannot send new messages until the conversation is unarchived
If a contact replies to an archived conversation, it will automatically unarchive and reappear in your inbox
You can archive conversations one at a time or in bulk
How to Archive a Single Conversation
Open the conversation in your Inbox
Click "Archive conversation" in the top right corner of the conversation view
A confirmation modal will appear. Review the message and click "ARCHIVE CONVERSATION" icon
The conversation will be removed from your active inbox view
Tip: Check "Do not ask again" in the confirmation modal to skip future confirmation prompts.
How to Archive Multiple Conversations (Bulk Archive)
In the inbox list (left panel), check the boxes next to the conversations you want to archive
To select all visible conversations at once, use the "SELECT VISIBLE" dropdown option
Click the "Archive" button that appears in the toolbar
Confirm in the modal by clicking "ARCHIVE CONVERSATION" icon
All selected conversations will be removed from your active inbox view
How to Find Archived Conversations
Archived conversations don't appear in your default inbox view, but you can access them at any time using the filter panel.
Open the Filters panel in your Inbox
Under the STATUS section, select "Archived"
Your inbox will now display only archived conversations
To return to your normal inbox view, remove the Archived filter or select "Unarchived".
How to Unarchive a Conversation
Locate the archived conversation using the Archived filter (see above)
Open the conversation
Click "Unarchive conversation"
The conversation will return to your active inbox and become editable. You can send messages again
Automatic Unarchiving
If a contact replies to a conversation you've archived, the system will automatically unarchive it and return it to your active inbox. This ensures you never miss an incoming message, even if the conversation was previously archived.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I permanently delete a conversation instead of archiving it?
No. Archiving is the available option for removing conversations from your active view. This is intentional to ensure no conversation history is permanently lost.
Will archiving affect the contact's experience?
No. Archiving is an organizational tool on your end only. The contact is not notified and their experience is not affected.
Can I send messages from an archived conversation?
No. Archived conversations are read-only. You'll see the message: "Archived conversations are read-only. Unarchive to send new messages." Simply unarchive the conversation to resume messaging.
What happens if I archive a conversation and the contact replies?
The conversation will automatically unarchive and reappear in your active inbox so you can respond.
Can I re-archive a conversation after unarchiving it?
Yes. You can archive and unarchive conversations as many times as needed.
