The Opt Out Phrase Manager is a powerful tool designed to give you greater control over your subscriber lists by allowing you to set up custom opt-out phrases. This feature helps you effectively manage detractors and negative feedback, optimizing your texting lists and improving ROI.

Note: All existing standard opt-out keywords and phrases will still be applied. The custom phrases you set are in addition to the default list.

Step-by-Step Guide to Adding Custom Opt-Out Phrases

Step 1: Access the Opt Out Phrase Manager

  1. Log in to your account.

  2. Navigate to My Account.

  3. Click on Account Settings.

  4. Select Opt Outs to open the Opt Out Phrase Manager.

Step 2: Add New Phrases

  1. In the Opt Out Phrase Manager, enter the phrase in the provided field. For example, enter “unsubscribe me” if you want that phrase to trigger an opt-out.

  2. Choose the type of match you want to apply:

    • Exact Match: Select this if you want the opt-out to trigger only when the incoming message exactly matches the phrase.

    • Partial Match: Select this if you want the opt-out to trigger when any part of the incoming message contains the phrase.

  3. Once phrases are entered and match applied, click on Add Phrases.

Setting Up Custom Opt-Out Phrases

You can set up custom opt-out phrases to automatically unsubscribe users based on the content of their messages. Both the Exact Match and Partial Match options are not case-sensitive, ensuring flexibility in how responses are handled.

There are two types of matching options available:

  • Exact Match: Trigger an opt-out only when the incoming message exactly matches your specified phrase, regardless of text case.

  • Partial Match: Trigger an opt-out if the defined phrase appears anywhere in the message, regardless of text case.

Managing Phrases

The feature supports bulk phrase entry, making it easy to manage multiple phrases at once. The interface uses a chip-based UI, which allows for simple addition and removal of phrases, as well as deduplication to prevent overlap between custom phrases and existing keywords.
